Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
ECTS: 3
Level: Bachelor (Pre-service Teachers)
Language: English
Face-to-face meeting at UBU: 26th-30th January 2026
This BIP equips future teachers with key competences urgently needed in today’s complex, fastchanging
and media-saturated world. Students develop empathy-driven problem-solving, critical
and ethical thinking about misinformation, collaborative teamwork skills, systems thinking, and
the capacity to design and advocate for socially innovative solutions. These competences are
essential for educators who must support diverse learners, navigate digital misinformation, and
foster democratic, inclusive learning environments.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Explain and apply social innovation and Design Thinking principles to educational
challenges. - Use empathy and UDL principles to understand learner needs and design inclusive
solutions. - Critically analyse misinformation and fake news, especially in health and wellbeing
contexts. - Co-create and prototype socially relevant media artefacts, integrating accessibility,
ethical communication, and evidence-informed design. - Work effectively in transnational teams, demonstrating agency, collaboration, and
creativity. - Reflect on their role as educators who can lead positive change, strengthen democratic
practices, and promote wellbeing and inclusion.
To apply these competences in meaningful real-world contexts, students work in international
teams to create an inclusive and ethically informed media campaign addressing misinformation
and promoting social wellbeing among teenagers at risk of exclusion. Through this hands-on
process, they learn to turn insight into action and grow into educators capable of shaping a more
equitable and resilient society.
